FTP (short for File Transfer Protocol), is the most popular means for transmitting web content to a web hosting account. Using an FTP client app that’s installed on your desktop computer or laptop, you can connect to your website hosting server and copy all the web files that you want with a couple of clicks. You can do this via a simple-to-navigate interface and it is as simple as dragging and dropping the abovementioned files. The advantage of using File Transfer Protocol is that you are able to set up separate FTP accounts, each with a different level of access to your online storage space, so if you must grant somebody access, for instance – a web designer, they will be able to access only one specific folder and will not be able to see the remaining content or any other info, including private details. Three prerequisites are required in order to be able to connect via FTP – a hostname, which is usually an IP address or a domain, a user name and a password.

This service is not limited, so with our simple-to-use Hepsia Control Panel, you will be able to set up as many accounts as you need to administer your websites and to get your website-related tasks completed. In case you hire a developer and they’re done with the website, for example, you can change the FTP password or delete the whole FTP account with just one click of the mouse through the Control Panel. For your convenience, you will be able to see a list of all the FTP accounts that you’ve created and what folders they can connect to. Handy options such as editing the password or the access path and downloading an auto-config file for widespread FTP apps are also just one mouse click away.

FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you host your websites in a semi-dedicated server account, you’ll be able to set up a separate FTP account for any of them, as we have not restricted this functionality with any of our semi-dedicated plans. You can do this through the FTP section of our easy-to-navigate Hepsia Control Panel where you can also view the complete list of all the accounts that you have created, together with the folder that each one of them can access. If needed, you’ll be able to edit the password for a specific FTP account or to edit its access path with a couple of clicks of the mouse. You can also delete an account effortlessly if you don’t need it anymore – for example, if you’ve hired a developer who’s done with the site and you do not want them to be able to connect to your website files any longer. For the sake of convenience, we have created a number of tutorial video clips, which will help you manage your FTP accounts without efforts in case you have never used a website hosting service before.
